Welcome to the Swan Rally home page.
We regret that this year there will be no Swan Rally. This is down to a number of reasons, including:
- Lack of Organising Team Members
- Work and family pressures have reduced the number of people available to organise the event, leaving simply too much work for the remaining organisers. We have been unable to replace these team members.
- Lack of a Suitable Area
- Windsor and High Wycombe motor clubs are based in some of the most densely populated area of the country, and thus we have to travel almost a whole map away to organise an event. Most of the surrounding maps have roads which are simply too fast for a road events, or are already used by other clubs for their events. The counties in which we run seem to have an ongoing policy of extending 30 limits a long way down the narrow yellows, and making even A and B roads 50 limits in the middle of nowhere. This stops us getting any length of standard section without having to include quiet zones or speed limits, which we know you simply don't like as competitors.
- PR Problems
- Another problem of the area in which the clubs are based is the population who are simply not tolerant of the idea of a rally passing their property at any time of day or night. Even in areas where there is no anti-rally sentiment, the sheer number of houses which we have to PR makes the PR'ing a mammoth task, far more significant than the number of entries justify.
- Lack of Entries
- Whilst we appreciate that entries are dwindling on many Southern navigational and road rallies for various reasons, the amount of effort involved in running a full blown event for barely more than a dozen competitors is simply too much effort for the reward.
We hope that in due course we will be able to resolve some of these issues and that we can create a new Swan Rally which is as enjoyable as some of our previous events.
