Congratulations to Andy and Phil who managed to get into the groove from the start and get on with the job at hand without being phased. Also congratulations to Mike & Steve and Maria & Roger who pick up the semi-expert awards and place ahead of the other experts!
We had hoped to set an event where every control counted equally towards the result and quite clearly we fell short of that. However, if you look at the penalties for the second half, you will see that we were half way there.
Certain issues overtook us in the run up to the event, most notably the insurance debacle. Thease meant that other things which should have been addressed slipped past. As I promised last year, we will look at all the issues you raise and try to improve on them.
As ever, all comments are welcomed, both good and bad. We do try to run the rally for your benefit (even if you are cursing us all night!).
Thanks go especially to the marshals, the staff at the Watling Street Cafe, the staff at Hazelmere Golf Club and Paul Miles at Marsh for sorting the insurance.
The next round of the Rally 2003 Road Rally Championship is the Wessex Rally promoted by Dolphin Motor Club on 31st May/1st June. The date for the Swan 2004 Rally is as yet undecided, we are thinking of moving to a date with less clashing events and more hours of darkness.
